It is never too late to start climbing. Just last month, I was introduced to the sport of rock climbing and I have already fallen in love with it. My arms are sore and my hands ache, yet all I want to do is climb. It is a great way to stay active and get an intense workout, as well as just have fun with friends! I love the technical aspect of it too. If you love strategy then you will love rock climbing, because it’s always a puzzle to find out the best route to the top.

Right now, I am going to school in Provo, Utah, so I am lucky that some of the best rock climbing opportunities in the country, such as in American Fork Canyon, Moab, and Zions, are right in my backyard. However, there is rock climbing available almost anywhere! I know that when I go back home to California I am checking out routes in Yosemite.

Even when winter hits, you can stay involved in the rock climbing community and go to your local rock gym to work on technique and get better for the next outdoor climbing season. However, if you insist on being outdoors even in the cold, then ice climbing is a whole different sport altogether… I have personally never tried it, but I bet it is just as amazing.

As the leaves start to change colors and get crispy, hiking can be the perfect activity to fill your time. There are many areas around the world in which fall is the perfect time to get outdoors and experience nature.

When you know that you are going to go hiking you should be sure that you are safe. Take time to exercise your judgement so that you can be sure you do not end up injured while you are on your hike.

First, you should be sure that you tell someone where you are going and an estimated time that you will arrive home. Make sure that you give them a date and time that you know you will be home by, this way if you are not home by this time they know that they can start to worry and take action to find out.

Second, you want to be sure that you understand how you are going to pack enough food and water for your hike. Take the time that you need to pack it appropriately so you can be sure that you can carry it while you are out on your hike.

Third, make sure that you are protected from the elements. Have a poncho with you in case it starts to rain and dress in layers so you can avoid any problems you may have with temperature.

Obviously, there will be games playing on the TV at a constant rate for the next while. That being said, the weather is going to be crisp and perfect for gathering friends and having some football fun of your own. From simple pickup games to competitive leagues, there is always the chance to have fun playing football outside.

Indeed, that is one of the best joys of the season! There is something uniquely special about getting friends and family together to have a great time and engage in some friendly competition. Building memories and having fun with this unique sport is one of the best ways to enjoy fall, and usher out the summer with something new and fun!

Well, summer is over, and its time to get ready for fall. Fall is a time that bring up images of changing leaves, crisp weather, and beautiful scenery. It also is the time that football season kicks into full swing, giving people everywhere something to watch and cheer for.

Fall is a time where lots of different sports can be played and enjoyed. It still is warm enough to go out during the day and have fun, while the night offers chances to bundle up and enjoy different events. Fall is a great time for biking, because of the cool temperatures and the beautiful scenery.

Running is also something that is fun during this time, because it gives people the chance to experience different temperatures and take in different sights. Essentially, it is possible to participate in a lot of outdoor sports in the fall, with different factors and sights playing a role in how they are enjoyed.

As Long as you are willing to put int he time to have fun, you can have a blast enjoying all kinds of outdoor sports in the fall. All you need to do is look for opportunities to do so!

As summer comes to a close, time is running out for people to get out behind a boat and get that one last ride on a wakeboard. This summer has been an excellent time for such activities, and it is always sad when it is closing. However, one last rise is a great way to bid the summer farewell by building good memories of it.

The last ride of the summer can be a great experience. Usually, boat traffic will have reduced itself over the last month, and the water will be crisp without being unbearably cold. The sun will shine down warmly, without being incredibly hot.

Often times, the last rise of the summer is a time that walks the line perfectly between extremes, allowing for a pleasant and dynamic experience that everyone can enjoy. Boating is always fun, but the last time is something that can be made especially significant.

Hiking int he evening is something that people can do in order to enjoy the experience while not being subjected to the usual elements that might be prohibitive. Hiking in the evening allows people to see different sights and experience things differently, while remaining in a cool and comfortable place.

The key to the experience lies with the removal of other factors that might turn off people to the experience under other conditions. Some people do not like to hike because they think that it is a strenuous thing, or that the heat build up will be punishing.

Hiking in the evening removes these things, and presents people with opportunities to experience something different.

-Evening hikes invite cooler temperatures, making it easier to go while still feeling energized and refreshed.

-Evening hikes also allow for different experiences, since the lighting and wildlife present will be different.

-Lastly, evening hikes allow for greater solitude, because the number of people encountered on the trail will be quite reduced.

Now that summer is here, it’s time for water games in the park! Water games have been a large part of childhood (and adulthood) for many of us, and its always fun to go revisit it and have a blast.

Usually, these things start off as fairly organized affairs, but they quickly break apart and turn into wonderful chaos after the initial salvo. And that’s what makes water fights in the park fun. being able to fun and spray people and chuck water balloons at them is something that is always enjoyable.

It is always recommended that people bring along extra water guns and water balloons, as well as any refills that may be needed. Gather friends, find somewhere grassy with a water spigot, and GO! You’re never too old to have fun playing with water.

One of the most important parts of playing outdoor sports is staying hydrated. Drinking water is essential during the hot summer, because of the accelerated way that the body will lose water. It doesn’t matter what you are doing, because the need for water is a universal. Failure to stay hydrated can include such problems as reduced energy, heatstroke, nausea, and a reduction in muscle function.

The body needs water when it is being subjected to heat and exertion. The body will lose water at an accelerated rate during the summer months, so people should always be drinking in order to maintain the important balances.

Not only will this serve to cool the body and refresh it, but it will also offer the participant a greater overall supply of energy and vigor as they engage in outdoor sports. A good basic rule of thumb is to drink whenever thirsty, or whenever there is a resting opportunity. It may be somewhat inconvenient to break off from a game or sport, but staying hydrated helps you to stay with it for longer.

Ultimate

You have probably heard of the game – maybe you have even played it. The perfect mixture of football and soccer that will leave you wanting more. Yes, I am talking about Ultimate Frisbee – a game that never ceases to satisfy a competitive spirit and is extremely easy to set up and play.

I have participated on several different levels in the sport since it was introduced to me – city league, collegiate intramural activities, and weekly pick-up games. So good.

A Unique Philosophy

As far as sports go today, all of them generally require an intense set of rules, skilled players who study those rules, and an officiating crew to regulate the upkeep of those rules by the players. In Ultimate Frisbee, there are all of these elements but not as they usually appear in traditional sports most people are familiar with. Let me break down each of these categories and explain further.

The Rules

Ultimate Frisbee has rules. Yes, it is true. However, the rules are not complex and literally anyone can learn and play with a 5 minute explanation of the game. Because the rules are so simple, the game draws attention from diverse groups of individuals whereas other sports may be more intimidating to people not being familiar with a complex rule set.

The Players

As mentioned above, literally anyone can play Ultimate Frisbee. Those who may not be as athletic can hone in on being skilled throwers and play back. Those who are able to run all day can make quick cuts and sprint to the end zone. Teams can consist of all sizes and shapes and if a simple strategy is agreed upon, success can be achieved.

The Officials

This is probably the most unique aspect of Ultimate Frisbee. Rather than having an officiating crew assigned for each game, Ultimate is governed entirely by the players on the field. If a player believes that a penalty occurred, it is their duty to call out and challenge the play. If a challenge is issued, whatever just previously happened is replayed to appease both sides. This bizarre way of officiating is called ‘ the spirit of the game’ and each player is to respect the guidelines set forth and the opposing players.

Wrap Up

Go ahead, pick yourself out a 175 gram Frisbee and start up a game of Ultimate. All you need are some willing friends, a Frisbee, and a open space to play. It is as simple as that – you won’t regret it.

There is good reason why the Nike Air Pegasus is Nike’s longest in production shoe, it is just simply that good of a shoe. From its humble beginnings in 1983 the Pegasus has come to be the benchmark of the running shoe industry.

I started running when I was in middle school. That was over a decade ago and the majority of that time my feet have been in Pegasus’. Even this summer as I go running in the mountains I find my self back in my Pegasus’. Every time I decide to branch out and try something different I always find myself coming back to the Pegasus.

I will admit that part of the reason is because I am a poor college student and need to spend my money wisely. So when I can get a great pair of shoes for 50 bucks or less it does not take much more to convince me to buy them. This is why Runner’s World has ranked the Pegasus their “Best Buy” for years now.

Other than the financial benefits of the Nike Air Pegasus, it is just a comfortable shoe to wear. Now that it has full length air running through the sole of the shoe makes the whole ride is that much more enjoyable. The modified waffle tread offers the right amount of traction, and with the rubber tread of the shoe being made of BRS 1000 you know the rubber is going to hold up for awhile. It is also a comforting thought to know that because you are buying a pair of Nikes you know that the shoes are not going to die on you prematurely.

There are also some other nice perks to using Nike Air Pegasus’ these days as well. For the last few years the the Pegasus has been fitted so that you can use Nike+ with it. By putting a small chip in your shoe that syncs with your Ipod records how long you ran for and how far you went.

Also if you are in a giving mood when the shoes come with red laces part of the purchase goes to help fight AIDS in Africa. Another option is to go with the LIVESTRONG style and money will go towards cancer research.
