Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford?
As this weekend nears, many college football fans are getting excited for the showdown between Oklahoma and Texas. At the beginning of the season, there was talk that this game could possibly be a preview of the National Championship, however, after Oklahoma was stunned by BYU, most those hopes went out the window. Now this game will be all about two things: 1- Personal pride for the programs, and 2- Which quarterback really is better.
As for personal pride, I think the regardless of the outcome, Texas will be sitting much better in that category. Why? Because they are still going to be ranked in the top 10 with a loss, yet Oklahoma could win and still won’t be in the top 10. Even with a loss, Texas could go undefeated for the rest of the year and still possibly get in the National Championship.
As for who is the best quarterback, that is for you to decide. I personally feel that Sam Bradford is overrated. He is very good, but overrated. Last year when he won the Heisman trophy, I, like many others, was very upset.
I think that Texas should have been playing in the Big 12 championship. They beat Oklahoma head to head and didn’t end up in the title game! That is a poor set up for a conference if you ask me. Had Texas gone to the Big 12 title game and won, which they easily would have, there would have been a much tougher opponent playing Florida. Colt McCoy knows how to win and I am sure this will be shown this weekend.
Last year, when Terrell Pryor and the Buckeyes looked to have sealed the deal in the Fiesta Bowl, Colt McCoy rallied his troops to a victory in the last minutes of the game. That was a comeback against a top-rated Buckeye defense.
Sam Bradford is clutch at choking in the big games. He lost to Texas and Florida last year in big games. This year, he lost to BYU, and as far as I am concerned, he was the losing quarterback. He had no offense in the first half of the game, and wouldn’t have been accredited a touchdown that game if it wasn’t for BYU fumbling a punt on the 30 yard-line. I don’t think he would have flipped on a magical switch at the half and lead his team to a victory. Let’s face it. He just can’t play when it really matters.
My vote goes to Colt McCoy.
