Little League World Series Update

outdoor sports addict 12One of the most exciting times of the summer is upon us, and I am not talking about Michael Phelps smoking some more pot. I am talking about one of the sweetest tournaments out there. The Little League World Series.

Every year in Williamsport, PA, teams from all over the world gather to play in one of the most prestiguous tournaments of all time. Teams have to battle their way through state and regional tournaments to be able to make it to Williamsport, and it is no easy task. Trust me, I know. When I was 12, my team played in the Western Regional, and lost in the semifinal game, to a team from Southern Cal, that later went on to beat Japan in Williamsport and be crowned the World Series Champion.

For me, there is not a better feeling than to turn on ESPN and to see young kids, ages 11-13, playing baseball for what really matters: the fun of the game and bragging rights.

Seriously, they put more emotion into the games than the big league players, who care only about the bottom line of their contract. It is flat out awesome to watch. The kids are not afraid to be kids. They yell, they scream, they smile, they cry. They give it their all and I love it! If you haven’t been following this year, shame on you. Get to somewhere you can watch ESPN and watch these little dudes play. They got game.

As of today, there are only four teams left in the tournament. West (US), Southwest(US), Mexico, and Asia-Pacific. It should be an awesome weekend of baseball. If you got plans for this weekend, cancel them and find a TV with ESPN. I promise, you will not be disappointed. Especially if the crazy Asians win. They all run out to centerfield and slide on their knees and worship the baseball gods. Pretty rad.
