Miguel Cabrera’s Mystery Scratches

By SportsLover, October 5, 2009 11:09 am

miguel cabreraMiguel Cabrera showed up to the ballpark on Saturday night to play in a very important game against the Chicago White Sox, in hopes to hold off the surging Twins. However, the main focus of the night wasn’t on the game like it should have been, but it was on the face of Detroit’s franchise player.

Cabrera was questioned multiple times on Saturday night about the scratches and swelling that covered his face. He continually claimed that they were from his dog that got a little violent earlier on in the day. Interestingly enough, he wanted to be very secretive of it. He repeatedly told the media that he “only wants to focus on tonight’s game.” Well Miguel, I would too if I got beat up by my dog. But I would want to hide my face even more if the scratches were really from my wife and the escapade we had the night before.

Embarrassing. Does it get any worse than this for the Detroit Tigers? First, you lose a rather large lead in the AL central division and are now on the brink of not making it  to the playoffs. Second, the face of your franchise shows up all scratched and swollen to one of the most important games of the season.

It really is just that type of season for the Tigers. They came into the year with a pretty good pitching staff and then that is what turns out to be there weakness. They think they can rely on Miguel Cabrera to lead the clubhouse but instead, he enjoys partying and spending time at the local jailhouse. What a joke!

Thanks for playing this year. See you next year Tigers. We will be anxiously awaiting a busy offseason with multiple trades.
